Eligibility Criteria

For examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications:

Essential Qualification

. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognised university or institution.

Professional Experience

. Minimum of two years’ practical experience in:

. Conducting court proceedings and managing legal matters, or

. Dealing with issues related to Trade Marks and Geographical Indications.

Preferred Qualification

. A Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property awarded by a recognised university will be considered advantageous.

Relaxation Clauses

. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) reserves the right to waive or relax the prescribed qualifications in exceptional cases, provided reasons are recorded in writing, if the candidate is otherwise suitably qualified.

. At least five years of post‑doctoral professional engagement in one or more of the following areas:

. Designing and managing online examination platforms

. Preferred Educational Background

.Relaxation Guidelines

. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) may, at its discretion, relax the prescribed qualifications, with reasons recorded in writing, if the candidate is otherwise suitably qualified.

Selection process

  1. Mode of Selection: The selection shall be conducted through an Interview or Recruitment Test, followed by an Interview, as determined by the Commission.
  2. Shortlisting of Candidates The Commission reserves the right to adopt shortlisting criteria in order to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable level.
  3. Basis of Shortlisting: Shortlisting may be carried out on the following grounds: Desirable Qualifications, Higher Educational Attainment, Relevant Professional Experience, Performance in Recruitment Test.
  4. Discretion of the Commission The Commission’s decision regarding the method of selection and shortlisting shall be final and binding.
